Can you believe it... this is the last Sunday of 2008! Without question, this year has been a tough one for the American people. Many people lost their jobs, their homes, their money and hope. This is the time when the press and our publications include articles by our so-called experts, predicting what they see happening in 2009. Most of their predictions in the past have been found to be dead wrong. Jesus, the Christ, is the only perfect predictor. He knows what is going on in our lives today, what we will face tomorrow, and best of all... He walks with us. We are very busy people who live in a fast-paced world. Sometimes we get so focused with what we are doing that we fail to realize that He (Jesus) is walking with us. We get so caught up with the here and now, that it's hard to deal with the eternal...the things that will last forever. We simply do not have enough time to do all the things that we have to do, let alone those things that we would like to do. We are living lives on overload! Our current lives are overloaded with too much anxiety and stress.
We find ourselves;
> Overloaded with our commitments- we are over committed.
> Overloaded with our possessions- our stuff has stuff.
> Overloaded with work- we work to much and too long so we can pay off the stuff we really don't need.
> Overloaded with information- we are faced with too much info each day. We can’t possibly absorb it.
Let’s face it, in this country, we as a people are overwhelmed, overworked, over committed, overanxious, overmatched and overextended. Our tanks are on empty and we’re running on fumes. Honestly, we all need to reexamine our lives.
What changes are needed in our lives before entering the new year?
With God’s help, what would you say those needed changes in your life are?
Luke 12:29-31 says it best; “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”
